Events

In the Wellington Diocese we have a number of events which we run on an annual basis as well as a number of one off events. These event, be they camps or training evenings, have something for everyone and are a great way to meet great people!

Getting Dirty for God

GDFG is a mission oriented camp run by young people for young people.

The purpose of the camp is to take youth and put them in a position where they act as servants to the local community. Painting houses, water blasting train stations, digging hangi pits, and eeling in a creek are all in a days work at GDFG. By acting as Christs presence in various small communties this camp has seen Christs love become self evident in a number of peoples lives, young and old.

Parihaka

Parihaka is a significant part of our history as New Zealanders. As a peace movement aimed at empowering Maori in their fight to retain their lands, Parihaka was a movement of peace and service. The mission camp held at Parihaka is a chance to learn about our history as a New Zealand peolple, to serve others, and worship God through our actions.

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

- Matthew 22:36 - 39
